Scottsdale Newborn Photographer | Alyssa

I won’t lie, being a photographer is probably one of the craziest “journeys” I’ve been on. I literally was graduating college and had no idea what I was going to do. I woke up one day and decided I was going to become a photographer. I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

my brother and his wife were expecting at the time, and I had two young kids myself, so I asked them to borrow their baby when she was born to practice with. when they went into labor I was there, documenting bits and pieces (little did I know two years later I would also be a birth photographer).

I started with their baby, and then I had friends having babies and asked to use theirs – also doing fresh 48’s for them. every baby I learned something new, all while investing so much time learning the in’s and out’s of newborn photography.

I invested all of my time and energy trying to figure everything out. I can’t be more grateful for the support from my husband and family helping out with our kids so I could do sessions. to this day, they’re still the backbone to my success 100%.

this session here was my three year anniversary session. I am so blessed for all the amazing clients who have trusted me throughout this process. one thing I have been passionate about my whole life is birth, and babies.

while I was learning everything I could about this career, I invested a lot of my time into the safety of handling newborns. not every pose is done how it looks – there are several poses that if they’re not done right, they can definitely put a baby at risk.

I will preach that until the ends of the earth to ensure that no matter who people choose as their photographer, that they understand newborn safety in it’s entirety.

but regardless of all of that, I am obsessed with my job. I absolutely love every aspect of it. how could I not when I get to snuggle gorgeous babies like this all the time? she was such a good baby for her session, we got through so much and she only woke up once to eat, and was back asleep for the rest of her session.
