introduction.
Hi! I’m guessing you’re new here, and if so, welcome! My name is Shannon and I am a newborn and maternity photographer in Arizona. I’ve been a photographer in Arizona for 8 years now, and I truly love it.
My love for photography developed while I was in college to become a labor and delivery nurse, but I quickly changed my major and have never looked back. However, my love for babies and expecting mothers has never wavered.
Being able to document this stage of life, and new life, is truly magical.
preparation.
I know one thing my maternity clients love about Arizona is the landscape, and I completely understand that. Depending on where you are in the valley there such an array of scenery types. From mountains, to cacti, to water and so much more. While I spent the first 6 years of my career scouting locations and perfecting my craft of shooting in the Arizona desert, over the past couple years I’ve really been diving in head first to studio maternity. It has been such a change of pace, and I have a full commercial studio located in Phoenix Arizona, so I figured why not! This has been a great alternative for those who aren’t interested in an outdoor shoot, especially during the summer months. I also have an associate shooter who helps tackle those outdoor sessions for me, as a mom of four kids, i’m sure you can imagine how sparse my time is!
setting the scene.
The process of your session will depend on many different factors. But, the part that’s the same for all maternity sessions is the booking process. Once you reach out to me, I send over my brochure of detailed information regarding the session type as well as available packages for that session. Once your package selection is made I send over a booking proposal with a customized questionnaire specific to your session. This is where we’re going to discuss all the details of your session. If it’s outdoors, what type of scenery do you want? Who is coming to the session with you? Do you need help deciding on outfits, or are you interested in borrowing something from our client closet? These are all questions that will help me envision your session.
If your session is in studio, what looks are you going for? Are you looking at lifestyle, or more of the glam/editorial look? What type of clothing did you want for your session; bodysuits, big gowns, form fitting gowns, or even nude? Our extensive client closet has plenty of options available as well.
Within the questionnaire provided there are some questions to help me understand your story, and your goals for this session. If you have a spouse and children coming for your session, it helps me get to know a little about them as well. My number one goal for your session is to make everyone as comfortable as possible. I want this to be a lasting memory for your family, and making that as enjoyable as possible is a huge priority!
post-production.
Following your session I will bring the post-production process. The typical turnaround for your proofing gallery is about two weeks. The first step as an Arizona maternity photographer is to go through all of the images from your session is take out any of the ones that are blurry, or missed composition. Then I apply my standard editing to all of your images so you can get a good idea how the final images will look. You’ll be able to go through your images and make your selections for the images you want to keep. The final step is just fine tweaking those images to perfection, and then they’re all yours to enjoy for many years to come!
wrapping up.
Being an Arizona maternity photographer has been an absolute joy. I have the honor to be there to document so many different stories, and all of these growing families.
