what you need to know.

001. scheduling.

Cake smashes are held in my private commercial studio, Monday-Friday mornings. If you’d like to use your portraits to display at baby’s birthday party, I recommend having your session take place when your little one is 10 1/2-11 months old. This will give you time to make prints and order any products that you’d like to display.

002. snacks.

Snacks are life, even at a cake smash. Bring some puffs or small snacks that baby likes! This is a great little trick to help get some amazing images even if baby isn’t interested in the cake.. which happens often.

003. session info.

Some babies don’t quite get the hang of the smash right away, so you may need to get your hands into the cake to help them get started. This can be really messy. So be sure to bring an extra outfit for baby, and possibly one for yourself!

004. clean up.

I always recommend a splash portion on your session. Having a mini bath after the cake smash does wonders! I do have baby soaps and towels at the studio to help you clean baby after the cake smash. But, if a bubble bath isn’t your thing, we can always baby wipe them down afterwards!

need a theme?

As an experienced Arizona cake smash photographer, I have you covered! I have a list of “bucket list” themes available if you just can’t decide. These are just fun themes I’ve wanted to do, but you’re not required to choose one of these. If you have a different theme in mind, we can absolutely do that!

optional add-on's:

add-on rush fee: $100

If you need your final gallery back in 1-3 weeks, this is for you. This ensures you will have you final images back prior to the contracted turn around time.

add-on sibling/family shots: $100

This can be added on to any package to accommodate family/sibling shots BEFORE the cake smash. These will be offered in the lifestyle room ONLY.

payment plan: $35

Payment plans are available, for the remaining balance ONLY. A fee of $35 will be added to your final balance to initiate a payment plan.

twin smash - extra cake: $45

This is only REQUIRED if you’re doing a cake smash with twins, with both babies at the same session.

frequently asked questions

what do I need to bring for the cake smash?

This is totally dependent on a few things. At the very least, SNACKS. I provide the decor, the cake, and I even have outfits available in my client closet for my smash sessions. But, if you have a specific outfit, or specific decor, you want to incorporate – you’re absolutely able to bring it to the session!

what if my baby has an allergy?

That’s okay! Upon booking I will send a questionnaire to discuss allergies. Since I do provide the cake, any information you provide will be sent directly to my baker. My baker is amazing at accommodating all allergies, and her kitchen is completely nut free. You can get her information HERE.

how do we select theme and colors for the cake smash?

Upon booking I will send a questionnaire to discuss all of your ideas for theme and colors. You can also send me any inspiration images you’ve seen that you like!

How do we prepare for our session?

After booking I will email out a prep guide on everything you need to know, and how to prepare for your session. This will also be emailed out in the days leading up to your session.
