tips for a Phoenix newborn session
If you’ve never done a newborn session, it’s pretty unknown what to expect. Here’s a mini guide on tips for a Phoenix newborn session! In the days leading up, all of my clients receive a full pre-session guide to prepare for their session, but here’s just a couple helpful pointers for parents and photographers!
My top three tips for a Phoenix newborn session:
- easily removable clothing
- a fresh feeding
- bring a pacifier
let’s break it down a little bit!

first, what should they wear?
Yes, it matters. One of my biggest tips for a Phoenix newborn session is to make sure baby is in something that can easily be removed. You don’t want to wake the baby up just trying to remove their clothes before the session even starts. I promise, this does make a difference!
next, what about eating?
No matter what you think, the baby’s eating schedule does not matter when it comes to picture day. It doesn’t matter if they just ate before they came, or they’re due to eat an hour after the session starts, you want baby the nice and full. A full baby is a happy baby, even if that means they need to stop and snack mid-session.

last but not least, a pacifier.
One of my absolute must haves for a Phoenix newborn session is a pacifier. Yes I know, “you haven’t tried them yet” or “your baby isn’t a fan”. But trust me when I say, even those babies may need them for their session. Maybe they won’t! But it’s always better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Some babies find a lot of comfort in a pacifier while posing them, and it can be an extremely helpful tool! These [linked here] are my absolute favorite ones.
