This desert location is a first time use for me. I actually found it one morning when I was spending hours trying to find something I loved, and I stumbled across this.

Something I look for in a location is obviously sunset. I want to know where the sun is going to set and exactly at what time. This is crucial to knowing where I can put my clients!

Another thing I’m looking for is texture and dimension. I don’t want just a flat piece of dirt, to me that’s boring. I want different heights in the background, different textures of plants or cacti. This will give me the option for a good variety in my clients’ final gallery.

The last thing I’m looking at is how open the area is to move around. I want to be able to pop into different areas, again to give a variety in the final gallery.

One thing I really love about Spring mini sessions is just how lush the desert is. Sometimes you’ll even find little patches of wildflowers, it’s just beautiful. I feel like loving a green desert is an oxymoron, but if you’re from Arizona you just get it!

Phoenix outdoor mini sessions are the perfect time to update your family pictures, capture a birthday or milestone, or even document a pregnancy. It’s all of the fun memories that come during fall, but different vibes!

During spring everything is brighter, color pallets tend to be more pastels and lighter colors. Whereas the fall everything is a little moodier, with darker color tones. But I love that you can still update your family pictures, without the demand of holiday season approaching!
