How to Prep Your Nails and Lashes at Home Before Your Photo Session

Prepping for your session takes a lot of planning, and work to get ready. But it doesn’t all have to be comlpicated. Let’s talk about how to prep your nails and lashes at home before your photo session.

One thing I’ve found as a staple in my weekly self care routine is lashes and nails. They last all week, and such a small gesture to make me feel so much better!

I’ve been through the whole cycle of lash extensions and the two hour appointments to maintain them, it’s just not practical as a busy mom and business owner. That’s when I came across lash clusters. I know they’re all the rage right now, but for the past few years I’ve really enjoyed being able to do my lashes at home and keep them low maintenance.

WinkClique is my favorite brand for lash clusters. I’ve tried a couple different brands but always go back to them because of how light weight and flexible they are! I also love that you can buy just one of the lash styles before committing to a whole book, try all the ones you want and see which is your favorite! My top three favorites are Volume 1, Minimalist, and Honey.

Over the years I’ve tried many different types of glue and I have two different ones that are my staple. Cluster Lash Club is my go to glue to brush on your lashes, seal, and remover. Then I use this glue from Amazon to apply on the lash band.

tips to apply

here’s a few helpful tips I do to get a good 10+ days out of my lashes. I like to do my lashes first thing in the morning so they have a full day to “set” before I go to bed.

  • Always start with clean lashes.
  • Apply the glue to the lash band, get a good little glue bubble along the lash band. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes before applying.
  • While you’re waiting for that glue to set, curl your natural lashes and use the other glue to apply it to your lashes, like mascara.
  • Apply your clusters one by one, once you apply it near your lash line, use the butt of your tweezers to apply a little pressure to get it nice and stuck.
  • Wait 10-15 minutes, apply your seal, and clamp all your clusters at the band to lock them in place.

If you know me at all, I always have my nails done, always. It’s been that way since high school and I’m not about to change it now. For my clients, how to prep your nails and lashes at home before your photo session is such a quick thing to make a big difference!

I went the route of dip nails for years, and then switched over to gel-x extensions and I absolutely loved it! About a year in I developed an allergy to the gel polish and had to go back to dip nails. While I really love it, it does take a toll on your natural nails. I decided to switch to press on nails for a bit to give my natural nails a break, and I’m really loving it!

Right now I’m using this set from Target and I am obsessed! They’re comfortable, easy to apply and look so natural and pretty. It literally took me 10 minutes to apply them, and they’ll easily last me over a week.

I hope this helps how to prep your nails and lashes at home before your photo session. Once you’re comfortable with each, you can get fresh lashes and a new mani in 20 minutes all from the comfort of your home! Now you’re ready to reach out to set up your session!
