Maternity Photographer in Phoenix
Every year as a Phoenix photographer I try to learn a new style, or a new genre. Over the past couple years I’ve really tried to hone in on being a maternity photographer in Phoenix. I’ve been shooting outdoor maternity since my start in 2016, but learning to shoot it in-studio was a totally different ballgame.

why should you do your maternity session in studio?
I’ve gotten to a point over the past year that I really feel comfortable as a maternity photographer in Phoenix. Learning different style lighting and all of the possibilities with it, it’s so much more different than shooting outdoors. One thing I love about shooting in-studio is how many completely different looks you can get from a single session and just a couple outfit changes.
Along with the different styles of lighting you can achieve in studio, I also created some digital templates that mimic different lighting styles, without having to have the gear to do it. My digital spotlight is the perfect overlay to apply in photoshop or Evoto, to mimic lighting with an optical snoot. Another really exiting overlay I created was a digital gradient. If your studio isn’t big enough to light like this in person, this is a great alternative!

when should you book a maternity session?
If you’re in the market to book a maternity photographer in Phoenix, my recommendation is to book after your first trimester, but schedule your session when you’re 28-33 weeks. I find this time-frame to be the sweet spot, as you’re entering your third trimester but not completely exhausted just yet! It also leaves some wiggle room before the risks of pre-term labor come into play.
If you’re expecting, I would love to discuss your session goals and inspo with you! Feel free to complete our contact form and we’ll reach out to chat about all the things for your session!
